Kate Kennedy is a landscape photographer based, after a lifetime in California, in Durham North Carolina. She bought my first Nikon SLR when she was a teenager, and she's had a camera in her hand ever since. She spent her life photographing the Pacific Coast, Hawai'i, and Yosemite; truly amazing subjects for anyone whose passion is seeing the world through a lens. Those wild and rugged western landscapes are woven into her DNA, but she's also come to love the quiet beauty of North Carolina.
Kate's goal as a photographer is to capture the fleeting moments that tell a story — the play of light on a landscape; the delicacy of a cloud in motion or a bird at rest — and to convey the beauty and fragility of those scenes in a way that helps you to feel a little bit of what she felt when she made the photo.
