Julie Olson and Pete Cozart have been involved in the arts for over 40 years as potters, mixed media artists, photographers and more. A recently added member to the pottery is Dalton Hughes. Dalton is an extremely talented apprentice at White Oak Pottery learning all aspects of the craft, as well as a medical student at Duke Univesity.
Together they produce functional pottery (kitchenware, tableware, vases, mugs, bowls), decorative pieces (lidded boxes, yard and garden art, ceramic bells, bird baths), crocheted hats for kids and adults, handmade Coptic bound journals, and photographic items.
The pottery is located in North Durham, NC, adjacent to the Eno River State Park. Along with the studio, glaze building and kiln shed, there is also a gallery showcasing their varied works, as well as items from other local artists.
You can find White Oak Pottery at the Durham Craft Market most Saturdays, or shop their online store by visiting their website, as well as finding event listings and information about visiting the pottery.
