Become a DCM Artist

Our artist applications are currently CLOSED. We accept new artists between January - March of each year. Subscribe to our newsletter to get alerted when artist applications open again!
About the Market:
The Durham Craft Market is a fun outdoor market that offers a rotating slate of approximately 40 local artisans representing a variety of hand-made arts and crafts. We are proud to provide a marketplace that encourages creativity and design innovation and honors the art of craftsmanship. Artists sign up online through Sign Up Genius each week and spaces are allocated weekly on a first come first serve basis.

Qualifications:
  1. Each seller must reside and make the items to be sold within a 50-mile radius of the Durham city limits, in the state of North Carolina.
  2. Each seller must be the original producer of the items sold. Sellers may designate personal representatives to attend the Market (family members, employees, etc.)
  3. The seller’s items must be artistic in nature and show personal creativity. All items must be handcrafted. The Durham Craft Market Selection Committee reserves the right to make the subjective judgments about the creative and handcrafted nature of the items sold. Consumable food may not be sold at the Durham Craft Market.
  4. All sellers and their representatives must abide by the responsibilities and requirements set forth in the Craft Market Rules.

The Selection Process:
The Selection Committee will be made up of Durham Craft Market members appointed by the DCM Steering Committee. Selection Committee members are committed to reviewing each application with the utmost integrity and respect. Decisions will be made on the basis of perceived quality, workmanship, creativity, uniqueness, and market availability for the specific craft type. The Selection Committee may limit the number of sellers within the same category.

Thank you for your interest in joining the Durham Craft Market. Our application to join is currently closed, and we will be releasing more information about joining the DCM later this spring. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates about the application process.

How To Join:
If you meet the Market qualifications listed above, the application process has 4 steps.


STEP 1 : Read the DCM Craft Market Rules thoroughly before completing the application (click on blue link to open).

STEP 2: Complete the DCM Online Membership Application form: (applications are currently closed)

​STEP 3: Pay your $25 non-refundable application fee to the DCM using the PayPal button.

Returning Members:

The annual membership fee for Active Members is $200.  Committee chairs will be reimbursed $100 at the end of the season, after fulfilling their obligations as committee chair.  If you wish to sell something significantly different than the craft you sold the previous year, please complete the section entitled “New Craft” on the Member Renewal Form. Complete the following (3) steps:

Step 1: Review Craft Market Rules (click on the blue link to open). Please be aware some changes have been made to attendance.

Step 2: Fill out and submit Member Renewal Form. Application Renewal Due by January 31, 2021:

Step 3: Pay your renewal fee using the PayPal buttons below. (Full or Partial payment is due by March 5, 2021 and if partial the 2nd half is due by April 1, 2021)

Membership Payments

You may pay your full membership at once, or in two payments of half the membership fee. Your first payment is due by March 5. If you choose to pay half your fee, the second payment is due by April 1. 
Please ensure that your PayPal payment identifies whose membership is being paid. Include the contact name and business name.

Special Events Payments

Shop Small Saturday 2021:
We are currently accepting payments from guests for our 2020 Holiday Market Fair event. Below is a button to pay the $75 fee to participate in our Shop Small event. Please ensure that your PayPal payment identifies whose membership is being paid. Include the contact name and business name.
